State Public High School Graduates

This database reports the number of public high school graduates by state or jurisdiction.  Data include regular diploma recipients, but exclude students receiving a certificate of attendance and persons receiving high school equivalency certificates. Some numbers are rounded.  Years refer to the second year of a traditional academic year, e.g., 2010 reflects the 2009-2010 academic year.  Data include regular diploma recipients, but excludes students receiving a certificate of attendance and persons receiving high school equivalency certificates. Data through 2012-2013 are actual.  Data for 2014 and subsequent years are projections.  In addition:

• Graduates from adult programs are excluded for the District of Columbia starting in 1990
• 1990 Massachusetts data are projected
• 1990, 1994, 2006, and 2006 U.S. totals include estimates for nonreporting states
• 2004 New York and Wisconsin data are estimated
• Graduates are projected for the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina in 2006
• Maine data include 1,161 graduates in 2008 and and 1,169 graduates in 2009 from private high schools that received a majority of their funding from public sources
• 2009 indicates estimated high school graduates for California and Nevada
• Data for the category DoD, Dependent Of Schools are reported only for years 1998 and 1999 are are excluded from this database.
