This database contains academic year undergraduate tuition and fees and room and board rates, in current dollars, for full-time students in degree-granting institutions. Years reflect the first year of a traditional academic calendar, i.e., from the fall of one year to late spring of the following year.
Figures reflect average costs for one academic year, and some numbers are rounded. In-state tuition and fees have been weighted by the number of full-time-equivalent undergraduates but were not adjusted to reflect student residency. Out-of-state tuition and fees have been weighted by the number of first-time freshmen attending the institution in the fall of each year from out of state. Room and board costs are based on full-time students. Some data may be based on enrollment in previous years. Degree-granting institutions grant associates or higher degrees and participate in Title IV federal financial aid programs. 1994-1997, 1999, and 2001 data were based on preliminary fall enrollments. Some numbers are rounded.
